# CPE

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits allow professionals (such as CPAs) to maintain their licenses and certifications through approved learning activities. You can explore available qualifying courses and programs on the [DataCamp CPE page](https://app.datacamp.com/certification/cpe) (requires login).

The CPE tab shows how members progress through Continuing Professional Education (CPE) skill verifications and how many CPE credits they receive. It is a top-level Reporting tab marked with a **NEW** badge, separate from the Certifications tab.

The report supports three periods:

* All time
* Last 365 days
* Last 90 days

For the 365-day and 90-day periods, an attempt belongs to the period based on the **assessment completion date**. The associated course completion date and the date when credits are awarded do not change the reporting period.

### Summary cards

The top of the tab displays three summary metrics for the selected period:

* **CPE credits earned** — Total CPE credits awarded to members of the group.
* **Members awarded credits** — Unique members who were awarded CPE credits, alongside the count of CPE assessments with awards.
* **Assessments needing course** — Assessment attempts that passed the exam but still require the member to complete the associated course before credits can be granted.

### CPE funnel

The funnel counts unique members at four stages:

1. **Assessment started** — The member started a CPE skill-verification assessment.
2. **Assessment passed** — The member completed and passed the assessment.
3. **Associated course completed** — The member completed the course linked to the CPE assessment.
4. **CPE credits awarded** — The member passed the assessment, completed the associated course, and received the certificate and CPE credits.

Members can complete the course before or after passing the assessment. For **All time**, the first funnel stage includes members who only started an assessment. The 365-day and 90-day funnels use assessment completion date to determine which attempts are included.

### Credits awarded by assessment

The credits-awarded chart ranks CPE assessments by the total credits awarded to members in the selected period. When more than ten assessments have awarded credits, the chart shows the top ten.

### CPE activity

The detail table shows:

* Member
* CPE assessment
* Exam result or score
* Assessment completion date
* Associated course
* Course completion date
* Credits awarded
* Final status

The available final statuses are:

* **Credits awarded** (`granted`) — The assessment was passed, the associated course was completed, and the certificate and credits were awarded.
* **Course outstanding** (`course_outstanding`) — The assessment was passed, but the associated course has not yet been completed.
* **Pending credits** (`pending_credits`) — The assessment was passed and the associated course was completed, but the certificate and credits have not yet been granted.
* **Failed** (`failed`) — The assessment attempt failed.

Started-only attempts are excluded from the detail table, so there is no **In progress** status.
